We need to be compassion in the way in which we speak to ourselves all the time.ģ Note down some of the ways in which you speak to yourself at the driving range or on the golf course. Without realising it, we can undermine all our good physical practice on the golf range by setting impossible standards and blaming, judging and criticising ourselves harshly. In other words, the way we interpret things that happen on the golf course will help us to maintain our confidence rather than seek it drift away.Ģ How we talk to ourselves is most important in developing confidence. It also means that we need to be reasonable and rationale about how we make sense of what happens to us. Confidence is a skill in how we think, feel and act in the world around us. Learn the Skillġ Because confidence is also a skill, we can practise to improve it. If I practice and believe in my ability then my chances of playing on the European Tour grow day by day. If I believe I can play on the European Tour but I never practice any of the skills required to play on the tour, my chances of success are low. Because confidence is a belief, it means that we can choose to believe what we wish to believe. Once these goals are identified precise lesson curriculums, practice regimens and timelines can be established and implemented with clarity and confidence. As such, all lesson experiences at RedTail begin with a Player Profile during which we will establish and understand your specific goals relative to golf.
